CONNECT/ Sounds simple enough.
You connect with clients and prospects routinely using a variety of tech messaging options like email, videos, content reports etc.. Now is no different, right? Wrong. Our tech focused world has also been upended and is imploding, so how do you stand out in the pandemic realm?

Think old school. Direct mail for one. And get your team using that tool we all have in our hands THE PHONE. Not to text, not to Facebook live, not to zoom – but to CALL. Call your current clients to touch base. CALL them -- if you have to leave a message do it. Use your cell, tell them they can text you back anytime. An email follow-up after leaving a phone message is ok.

Why calls are valuable: in a call, if you listen, you will hear them. Hearing their challenges gives you an opportunity to offer ideas or support, maybe even solutions. It is a simple, unforgettable gesture.

PIVOT/ Enact plan B.
That’s right – entrepreneurs MUST have a plan B. Anyone who says different is not paying your bills…the pandemic has shut down some businesses – giving them a ‘gift-of-time* [*GOT]. The GOT allows one to focus on things you might not have considered in the day-to-day of running a business, providing services, and so on. Things are changing in the short-term:  Restaurants will PIVOT from serving table to curbside; (it’s old school-https://www.cartalk.com/blogs/jim-motavalli/brief-history-drive-and-fast-food-too).  Specialty retailers will PIVOT from “may I help you find something” to a wandering customer to “tell me what you need and I will find choices for you” via Facebook live or Text; Service providers might PIVOT from – ‘what’s a good time for you” to “here is what we have available to do it safely,” and so on. Clothing or home goods manufacturers and quilt shops might make and sell masks now. Breweries and cosmetic makers are shifting to hand sanitizes. PIVOT. Succeed now, and draft your Plan B.

Review what you have done in the past, and how you can change things up to offer different or better services now. Then look at what is next and plan for that too.

REVIVE/ Envision going forward.
Pivoting will get you so far. But Envision your plan for going forward after this interruption. This is your GOT* [gift-of-time] project.

Remember when you started your business? What were your goals? To have a job? Create a legacy? To leave a thriving business for the grands? To be profitable and sell so you can retire or start something else? To be creative? To franchise or have locations all over? Decide what you want more of or less of and go from there.
